4-star QB schedules second Michigan game-day visit

Michigan will get another opportunity to impress 2028 four-star quarterback Levi Kerr before a potential decision. According to On3’s Ethan McDowell ($), the Marvin Ridge standout plans to return to Ann Arbor for the UCLA game on Nov. 21. Kerr previously visited for the Penn State game and Michigan made a significant move during that trip.

“I wanted to get up there and explore that opportunity, and they jumped really high on the board,” Kerr said. “I really like Michigan.”

McDowell reports that Kerr could commit before the end of the year, making next month’s return especially significant. Rivals national insider Chad Simmons also reported Michigan is setting the pace in this recruitment.

North Carolina appears to be the strongest competition after hosting Kerr for a visit last weekend. Former Michigan general manager Sean Magee was involved in that visit while helping the Tar Heels search for their next general manager. Kerr also plans to visit Mississippi State and South Carolina before the end of the year, although the Gamecocks have yet to offer him.

There’s still competition to navigate, but getting Kerr back on campus gives Michigan another valuable opportunity as his recruitment moves toward a decision.

4-star DL commit still feels good about Michigan post-Texas visit

Michigan’s record hasn’t shaken every recruit’s confidence in the program. For 2027 four-star defensive lineman Xavier Muhammad, the defense continues to provide reasons to be excited.

The Shadow Creek standout paid close attention to Michigan’s defensive front during Saturday’s loss to Indiana, telling The Michigan Insider ($) he liked the group’s physicality and teamwork.

“They’re ranked top in the country for a reason,” Muhammad said. “I thought they played physical and competed hard. I was really watching the defensive line and how they played together as a unit.”

Texas is nevertheless giving Michigan something to monitor. The Longhorns recently offered Muhammad and hosted him for an unofficial visit, giving him a chance to ask questions about his potential fit. He enjoyed the trip but hasn’t decided whether he’ll return for an official visit.

For now, Muhammad says his Michigan commitment remains meaningful.

“I still feel good about Michigan and the relationships I’ve built with the coaching staff,” he said. “Every program goes through challenges, but I look at the bigger picture beyond just the record.”

Muhammad emphasized development, relationships and finding the right fit for his future. Michigan will need to keep nurturing those connections, but his comments offer reassurance as Texas makes its push.

2027 TE’s parents leave Ann Arbor impressed

2027 three-star tight end Jackson Doman couldn’t make the trip to Michigan while serving his LDS mission, so his parents checked out the program for him.

Their visit for the Indiana game last weekend appears to have helped the Wolverines. The former BYU tight end signee told The Michigan Insider ($) that his parents enjoyed Michigan’s traditions, facilities and time with the coaching staff before and after the game.

“Overall they were very impressed,” Doman said. “Coach Fred Whittingham gained their confidence in his ability to develop top caliber tight ends.”

Doman signed with BYU in the 2025 class before requesting and receiving his release in June. Michigan entered the picture earlier this fall, while Utah and a couple SEC programs remain involved.

The Canby, Oregon product finished his senior season with 57 receptions, more than 1,100 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. That production makes him an intriguing potential addition to Michigan’s passing game, although he has questions about the offense himself.

“They need more weapons, but they will have to develop a quarterback,” Doman said. “It would be nice to know they would have a quarterback that could run the offense.”

His family’s visit gave Michigan a chance to strengthen its position. Showing him a promising direction offensively would help the Wolverines build on it.
