Week 6 saw some wild action, especially in the SEC. Oklahoma downed top-ranked Texas and Georgia outlasted Alabama in a fantastic battle.

The results will see Texas drop from its top spot, something the Longhorns seemed to be flirting with for a few weeks between their play and the Dawgs being rugged.

The upcoming week sets up a huge battle of teams that will certainly be in the AP Top 10, again.

Unbeaten Notre Dame heads to Provo to play BYU. The teams are a combined 11-0 and have outscored opponents by 304 points.

How might the AP Top 10 look heading into Week 7?

10. Texas Tech

Texas Tech Red Raiders running back Quinten Joyner (0) carries for a touchdown in the fourth quarter against the Colorado Buffaloes at Folsom Field.

The Red Raiders had the week off before facing Arizona State on Saturday. They are undefeated and have quite the favorable schedule. Not sure if that is good or bad because the only ranked team left is upstart Oklahoma State and the one they beat already is Houston, which was a two-point win.

9. BYU

BYU Cougars quarterback Bear Bachmeier (47) walks off the field after a win over the Iowa State Cyclones at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

We will find out exactly what the 5-0 Cougars are about on Saturday. Talk about a great chance to make your statement as a national power. Notre Dame comes to Provo for a battle of unbeatens. BYU has four wins by double digits.

8. Ole Miss

Mississippi Rebels running back Shekai Mills-Knight (33) scores a touchdown against the Vanderbilt Commodores during the second half at FirstBank Stadium.

The Rebels head into a rough stretch of their schedule. They host Missouri, which just clocked Texas A&M, then are at Texas, and Auburn, face Georgia and then Oklahoma. Win those four games and the loss to Florida will be a distant memory.

7. Indiana

Indiana Hoosiers wide receiver Nick Marsh (11) and wide receiver Charlie Becker (80) celebrate after a touchdown against the Nebraska Cornhuskers during the fourth quarter at Memorial Stadium.

The Hoosiers survived at Nebraska. They are beginning to look as if they are vulnerable. Will find out soon enough if that is the case as Ohio State comes into Bloomingon on Saturday. Get past the Buckeyes and the schedule is favorable.

6. Texas

The Texas Longhorns cheerleaders cheer during the game against the Oklahoma Sooners at Cotton Bowl.

So much for the Longhorns being atop the rankings. They lost at the gun to Oklahoma, a team Georgia beat by 28 points. It's a bad loss when one is using comparisons.

5. Alabama

Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Keelon Russell (12) passes the ball against the Georgia Bulldogs during the fourth quarter at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Brutal whiff on what should have been pass interference in the end zone against Georgia. Problem is on the next play they took a sack and went out of field-goal range. This is a fantastic team. Don't be surprised if the Tide sees Georgia again, once, maybe twice.

4. Ohio State

Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (4) catches a pass.

The Buckeyes have two tough road games in a row. They play at Indiana on Saturday, get a bye week, then go to USC on Halloween. The third game in this stretch is against Oregon in Columbus but the Ducks have fizzled.

3. Miami

A Miami Hurricanes cheerleader on the sidelines.

The Hurricanes come off a bye and have a home game against Florida State on Saturday. After the way the Seminoles collapsed against Louisville, Miami has to be salivating at the chance to put a beating on its in-state ACC rival.

2. Notre Dame

Notre Dame celebrates after winning a NCAA football game 58-7 against Stanford at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, in South Bend.

The Fighting Irish had to Utah at 6-0 and having outscored opponents by 198 points. The win against Wisconsin can be considered better now that the Badgers are 4-1. However, the other foes were, um, hardly wowing. This is a huge one. ND needs it and a win over Miami later in the season to muzzle the critics.

1. Georgia

Georgia Bulldogs running back Dwight Phillips Jr. (20) carries the ball against the Alabama Crimson Tide during the first quarter at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Tough a team as they come. The Dawgs went into Tuscaloosa and came away with a key win that will vault them to No. 1 in the rankings. The toughest road game left on the SEC gauntlet is at Ole Miss on Nov. 7.
