The Oklahoma Sooners picked up a win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville on Saturday. The 23-15 win helped Oklahoma improve to 4-3 on the season and 2-2 in SEC play. After the win, the Sooners received one vote in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll.

The Sooners have alternated wins and losses this season. The Sooners lost winnable games against Michigan and Kentucky and earned an upset win over Texas in the Red River Showdown. Who knows where Oklahoma's season goes from here but this is a good start to finishing the second half of the season on a high note.

Oklahoma will have an opportunity to improve their resume if they can win out. The Sooners still have games against ranked opponents like Florida, Ole Miss, and Missouri. South Carolina, which Oklahoma plays in Week 9, is getting votes after beating Tennessee.

The Miami Hurricanes lead this week's Coaches Poll, receiving 67 of a possible 74 first-place votes. Right behind The U are Ohio State, Georgia, Indiana, and Utah, rounding out the top five.

The top 10 features many usual suspects, but teams like Utah, UCLA, Kentucky, and BYU are making a claim to be among the best teams in college football in 2026.
