Food, like football, is king in Texas. Let’s put together your go-to State Fair of Texas plate. Here are the newest finger-licking fair foods we are ordering before we get our fill of Texas and Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl at 2:30 pm.

  • Appetizer: Texas Brisket Pierogies – Fried potato-and-cheese pierogies topped with Texas smoked brisket, lime sauce, pickled red onions, Fresno peppers, and cilantro
  • Sandwich: The PBR — Pickles, Bacon & Ranch – Grilled cheddar and mozzarella topped with pickles, bacon, ranch, and hand-cut fries on toasted sourdough.
  • Drink: All Shook Up- A banana-pudding ice cream milkshake loaded with peanut butter sauce, a peanut-butter cookie, bacon, caramel, whipped cream, and a cherry.
  • Dessert: Triple Chocolate Flautas- crispy corn tortillas stuffed with brownie, molten fudge, and chocolate chips, then fried and topped with whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and sprinkles.
  • Snack: Twinkle Twinkle Brisket Star- a hollowed-out Twinkie stuffed with smoked brisket, bacon, jalapeños, and cream cheese, deep-fried and finished with raspberry-chipotle sauce.
  • Boozy drink: Nevins Soft Serve Peach Bellini Float – Peach Bellini soft serve infused with sparkling wine, topped with sparkling sugar and grated frozen peach. It’s basically a childhood ice-cream float that went to college.

Week 6 SEC Predictions

Florida ran into a buzzsaw, or should we say MIZ saw, in CoMo last Saturday. We know that joke was lame, but we appreciate the smirk. This week’s slate should be plenty entertaining. Just be careful not to read too many press clippings, as Florida’s Jon Sumrall said at his weekly press conference on Monday. “If you pat your team on the ass too much, eventually they’re gonna sh*t in your hand.”

Week 5 Picks: 4-1
Overall: 22-3

Texas A&M at No. 14 Missouri
Austin Simmons was cooking on Saturday afternoon in CoMo. Simmons finished the day (and the Gators) 23-30, 340 yards, and two touchdowns. The Tiger defense was stingy too, holding Florida’s Jaydan Baugh to just 12 yards rushing. The Aggies are struggling and need a win to avoid another 8-4 campaign.

Prediction: Missouri

South Carolina at No. 16 Florida
Is this the week, little Gamecock? Shane Beamer and Carolina blew another double-digit lead on Saturday at Kentucky. The boo birds are flying in Carolina. The Gators have blood in their mouth after their loss to Mizzou. They will be rocking some sweet throwbacks for Homecoming and will likely send Beamer packing.
Prediction: Florida

No. 1 Texas vs. Oklahoma (Red River Rivalry)
After we get our fill of bacon and brisket, the Horns and Sooners will hit the Cotton Bowl. Three of these four matchups have been lopsided Texas victories. Given Texas’s dominant defense and the largely inept Sooner offense, this could be the same. If something is different, look for Parker Livingstone to be the difference. The former Longhorn receiver was spurned and forced to the Portal last offseason.
Prediction: Texas

No. 10 LSU at Kentucky
Remember, Lane. Thou art mortal. Will Stein has two big road wins as the new Kentucky head coach. He will have a great environment on Saturday night at Kroger Field for the Tigers. The talent gap will be difficult to overcome, and the Wildcat defense looked porous at times last week against the Gamecocks.
Prediction: LSU

No. 2 Georgia at No. 6 Alabama
Alabama and Georgia are two of the SEC’s most dominant teams. Georgia has been paying rent in Alabama’s head in their regular-season matchups lately. They have plenty of familiarity with each other. Georgia’s key is containing Alabama’s Keelon Russell. Look for a high-scoring affair, even with a pending tropical storm.
Prediction: Georgia
