One word to perfectly describe the No. 20 Utah Utes' offense under Kevin McGiven is efficient.

There was no doubt from the first snap of the game that Utah's offensive weapons were on display. The Utes wanted to make a statement and wasted no time doing it against an SEC opponent. Devon Dampier was playing the role of conductor, leading Wayshawn Parker and Byrd Ficklin around the field with ease. Everything McGiven put together made the offense look dangerous.

This left everyone asking if Utah was going to be a problem in the Big 12 race?

Texas Tech, who came into the season with all the hype in the world, appeared to be on the ropes throughout most of the game against Oregon State on Saturday. If the Red Raiders were ready to compete and defend their Big 12 title, the fire and intensity wasn't there, and they nearly lost to an underrated Beavers team. This is a major reason why they slid in the latest AP Top 25 rankings.

BYU is now the top Big 12 team, at least in the polls. After taking care of Arizona, the Cougars put themselves right outside the top 10 in the nation. If everything stays on the right path, this year's Holy War game could demand national attention. Both teams have to get there, but it can happen.

The way Utah rolled on to a 43-10 victory over Arkansas puts them in the conversation of being the No. 3 team in the Big 12 right now. Texas Tech seems to be losing their grip on the conference, which leaves BYU as the frontrunner with Utah not far behind. Even when the rest of the country isn't sold on the Utes, Morgan Scalley knows his team is ready for war.

“They had a chip on their shoulder ever since the offseason when people talked about that may be a weak link for the University of Utah,” Scalley said via USA TODAY Sports. “Obviously (Saturday), it did not prove to be that. We’re going to continue to get better, look at the film, and find out what our deficiencies are."

One of Scalley's best areas of emphasis is film study. As a former player turned coach, his entire football journey has been spent breaking down plays. One of the best sets of plays Scalley is going to see on tape was on offense. Dampier provides the Utes with a boost because he's such a dynamic quarterback. The only other QB with his athleticism is sitting second-string right behind him. Ficklin can't stay off the field because he's that good. Not an average backup signal-caller due to the fact he also plays receiver, tight end and running back on designed run plays.

Not to mention, Parker is starting to break out of his shell this season as well. The Utes' trio is joined by former walk-on tight end Noah Bennee, who led all receivers with 113 yards on four catches.

With all that said, Utah's offense is one of the most dangerous units nobody is talking about. Stay tuned because that's likely to change.
