Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko knows how important the 12th Man can be for his football team, and Saturday’s atmosphere at Kyle Field once again showed exactly why.

The Aggies hosted Arizona State in their second game of the 2026 season, with more than just a football game taking place inside Kyle Field. Texas A&M held its Red, White and Blue Out in recognition of the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, creating a memorable scene as the Aggies took the field.

The crowd delivered, and Elko made sure to acknowledge the fans following Texas A&M’s 48-20 victory over the Sun Devils.

"What a scene. Thank you to the 12th Man," Elko said to reporters. "Just the scene of red, white and blue when we ran out of the tunnel and what it stands for on the anniversary of 9/11. I just thought that was another really, really impressive thing by the 12th Man."

For Elko, the atmosphere represented more than just another packed Saturday at Kyle Field. The patriotic theme gave the crowd an opportunity to honor the significance of the day while also supporting the Aggies.

The fans certainly made their presence felt.

Texas A&M entered the game ranked No. 10 nationally, and Arizona State managed to stay within striking distance for much of the afternoon. But as the game progressed, the Aggies pulled away, eventually turning the contest into a convincing victory and improving to 2-0 on the season.

The performance on the field ultimately matched the energy coming from the stands.

The 12th Man has long been one of Texas A&M’s biggest advantages, and Elko has consistently emphasized the importance of having a home-field advantage at Kyle Field. Saturday provided another example of what that can look like when the entire stadium embraces an important moment.

The Red, White and Blue Out also added another layer to an already special environment. Fans filled the stadium in patriotic colors as the Aggies honored the 25th anniversary of one of the most significant moments in American history.

Elko’s message after the game showed that the effort from the fans did not go unnoticed.

As Texas A&M continues its pursuit of an SEC championship and another College Football Playoff appearance, the Aggies will undoubtedly need strong performances from their players. But they will also continue to lean on the support that has made Kyle Field one of the most intimidating environments in college football.

Saturday was simply another reminder that when the 12th Man shows up, Texas A&M has something special on its side.
