Middle Tennessee State football reveals $16 million renovation to Floyd Stadium

Middle Tennessee State's Floyd Stadium is set for a face lift.

Ahead of its 91st season hosting Blue Raiders football, MTSU announced plans for $16 million in upgrades to the stadium's west side seating. The project, which will begin after the 2026 football season, will add new chairback seating while improving leg room for spectators in attendance.

"Based on the current design, the project will add more than 2,200 new chairback seats across the west side of the stadium. The new seating below the existing west side walkway will feature 24-inch chairbacks and substantially wider 48-inch seating treads," MTSU announced in a news release. "These amenities provide fans with increased comfort and double the legroom throughout this seating area."

Along with improvements to seating, MTSU will build patios on each end of the west sideline with concessions, televisions and picnic tables, as well as a "party deck" situated above each patio, which will hold a limited number of fans each game.

Between the patios and party decks on each end of the stadium, MTSU will add two 57-foot ribbon videoboards. The project will also introduce seat backs to the benched seating in the upper corners of Floyd Stadium's west side, while improving ADA accessibility.

"This is another significant investment in the future of Middle Tennessee Athletics and, most importantly, in the experience our fans have on game day," MTSU Athlete Director Chris Massaro said in a release. "The West side of Floyd Stadium has served us well for many years, but this project will provide our fans with substantially wider seating, comfortable chairbacks, improved sightlines and enhanced ADA accommodations."

A year ago, the Blue Raiders opened a $66 million student-athlete performance center, which also serves as the new base for MTSU football and its staff. The performance center included new weight and nutrition facilities, while upgrades to the south end zone videoboard were also a part of the project.
