MIAMI, Fla. – After emerging as the frontrunner, the Miami Hurricanes crossed the finish line by securing local five-star wide receiver Brysen Wright's commitment, who will reclassify to the 2027 recruiting class cycle, officially announced on Thursday while Instagram live-streaming from an auditorium with family and friends present.
The Florida Gators and Texas Longhorns were the runners-up.

Wright was part of the 2028 recruiting cycle and ranked as follows previously:
Nationally: No. 3
Wide Receivers: No. 1
Florida: No. 1
(Data by 247Sports Composite)
Wright currently attends Mandarin High School, a public institution located in Jacksonville (Fla.). This season, he logged 1,115 all purpose yards on 46 catches, two carries, 36 punt returns, and three pick-sixes, according to MaxPreps. Wright has snaps on the defensive side of the field. He collected 26 total tackles, 14 solos and 12 assists, and a tackle for loss.
The local, highly touted playmaker is a teammate of three-star quarterback and Hurricanes commit Knox Annis. He's part of the 2028 recruiting cycle.
After reclassifying to 2027, Wright becomes 21st Hurricanes commit, joining five-stars Donte Wright (cornerback), Israel Abrams (quarterback), Nick Lennear (wide receiver), Jaiden Bryant (edge rusher), and A'Mir Sears (two-way athlete).
The incoming offense is projected to be very promising in Coral Gables, alongside rising star Malachi Toney starting the next college football season.

Wright received over 20 Power Four scholarship offers throughout the recruiting process, including from Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia, and Oregon, among others, plus Notre Dame (independent).
The Hurricanes have attracted local talent since coming off the National Championship game. Despite the loss, recruits are seeing the turnaround head coach Mario Cristobal has led to being successful. Currently, 10 of the 21 (47.6 percent) commits for 2027 are from the Sunshine State, including Lennear, Sears, and now Wright.
Wright attended the Hurricanes' 43-35 double-overtime win over the Florida State Seminoles at Hard Rock Stadium on Oct. 17. Although the game got out of control, it didn't have a negative impact on the recruiting side. Wright was joined by elite 2028 recruits, such as five-star safety Casey Barner and five-star edge rusher Asher Ghioto, among others.
The Hurricanes have an opportunity coming up to further attract young talent with a prime-time matchup against Notre Dame in South Bend (IN). Despite losing Toney to a high ankle sprain surgery, there is still excitement about the meeting between the historic rivals.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. E.T. and will be televised on NBC and Peacock.
