A week ago, some Auburn fans questioned why the Tigers were not ranked after defeating the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

After their 38-17 loss to LSU on Saturday, Auburn is going in the wrong direction as a ranked football team.

Unlike a week ago, Auburn did not receive votes in this week's AP Top 25 Poll. Auburn's Week 8 opponent, the LSU Tigers, moved up from No. 18 to No. 15 after earning a convincing victory at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn is now 1-2 against teams that were ranked in the AP Top 25 when the Tigers played them.

Their upcoming opponent, Ole Miss, dropped in the rankings after losing to Texas 34-27 on Saturday night. The Rebels slid five spots from No. 7 to No. 12. The win moved Texas up eight spots from No. 19 to No. 11. Auburn plays just two more ranked opponents, Ole Miss and Alabama. Alabama beat Texas A&M to snap a two-game losing streak. The Crimson Tide moved from No. 13 to No. 10 after the win.

The Miami Hurricanes stay at No. 1 after a dominant 52-23 win over Pittsburgh on Saturday. Former Auburn quarterback Holden Geriner went 18-of-32 for 268 yards and one touchdown as the Pitt Panthers' quarterback.

There is a new No. 2 team with BYU losing in double overtime to UCF. The Ohio State Buckeyes now claim that spot despite not playing in Week 8.

Georgia and Florida also benefited from not playing last week. Georgia moved up two spots to No. 3 while Florida moved up to No. 17 from No. 20. The Bulldogs will play the Florida Gators in Week 9 in Atlanta.

The Kentucky Wildcats continued their winning streak and took over the top spot in the SEC standings by beating Vanderbilt last Saturday. Kentucky moved up three spots to No. 9. Missouri fell one spot to No. 23 during their week off, and the Tennessee Volunteers dropped in the rankings from No. 11 to No. 16 after losing to South Carolina.
