The Florida Gators did not play last weekend, taking their first and only bye of the 2026 campaign, but plenty of other schools did, causing some shifts in college football's hierarchy.
Following Week 8's gridiron grind, USA TODAY Sports writer Paul Myerberg released his latest re-ranking of all 138 FBS teams. In it, Florida gained some ground again, rising three spots to No. 22, where it sits between No. 21 Boise State and No. 23 Iowa.
Compare that with the US LBM Coaches Poll, which now ranks the Gators at No. 20, and the AP Top 25, which has them at No. 17.
The SEC once again has nine schools in the USA TODAY Sports re-rank top 25 this week, headlined by fourth-ranked Georgia, along with Kentucky (No. 9) and Texas (No. 10) among the top 10. Ole Miss (No. 11), Tennessee (No. 12), Alabama (No. 13), LSU (No. 14), Missouri (No. 19) and Florida (No. 22) round out the rest of the top-ranked teams.
Next up, Florida faces Georgia in their annual rivalry game on Saturday, Oct. 31, which will be played in Atlanta and broadcast on ABC starting at 3:30 p.m. ET.
