Lane Kiffin was not happy with how the Sam Leavitt and the No. 8 LSU Tigers offense was performing throughout the first half of their Week 2 clash with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on Saturday night.

Kiffin has started his first year at the helm for the Tigers, looking to lead them to College Football Playoff contention. They started the 2026 campaign strong, dominating the Clemson Tigers in a convincing 51-10 blowout.

LSU moved on to its next matchup against the Bulldogs, who boasted heavy underdog status towards the SEC powerhouse. They were going to have to compete on every play, which they pulled off in the first 30 minute of regulation.

LSU only conceded one touchdown to the Bulldogs, but the Tigers only scored 10 points against the opposing defense. Leavitt also had trouble, throwing a hat trick of three interceptions. This resulted in Kiffin airing out his frustration on the ESPN broadcast once halftime arrived.

How Lane Kiffin, LSU performed against Louisiana Tech

Lane Kiffin made his message for Sam Leavitt and the LSU offense loud and clear, seeing them get back on track to beat down Louisiana Tech by a 45-14 score at home.

LSU’s offense woke up in the second half. They torched the Bulldogs 35-7 in that stretch, showing they are more than capable of performing at a high level within their own attack.

Leavitt ended the night with 25 out of 34 completions for 344 yards and one touchdown and three interceptions while racking up 11 rushes for 22 yards and a hat trick of three touchdowns. Trey’Dez Green and Eugene Wilson III combined for 12 catches and 197 yards and a touchdown.

The No. 8 Tigers will look forward to their next matchup, being on the road. Kiffin returns to familiar territory as LSU clashes with the No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels on Sept. 19.
