Texas has to win today. The 6-2 Longhornsmightget into the College Football Playoff with three losses, but its not very likely. And of the games left on UT's schedule, only a loss to LSU might be forgiven. The Horns can't slip up to Missouri.

But the Tigers are a formidable opponent. Mizzou is No. 18 in the CFP rankings and have had some big wins this season. And the Longhorns will be short handed. A rash t of injuries has seen several of the starters out for the season.

But it has to be next man up, especially for Arch Manning and the Longhorns offense. The offense has never fully clicked for an entire game. UT will need the offense to be more productive to win out and make the CFP.

Texas wide receiver Ryan Wingo is back in his home state. Wingo leads Longhorns receives in receptions with 36 and yards with 470. He's from St. Louis and has a lot of friends and family at the game today.

Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz said this week that losing Wingo to Texas during recruiting broke his heart.

I’m told Wingo has 40–50 close friends and family members in attendance to watch him play back in his home state. @ontexasfootballpic.twitter.com/Ak3n6YB8Ic

Texas Longhorns at Missouri Tigers Prediction

09:55 AM ET, November 7 2026, Trey Luerssen

When this year's schedule came out, I thought the game against Mizzou might be the toughest to forecast. But it's even tougher now, because we're not sure which team will actually show up on either side of the ball. Both teams have had some big wins and some real clunkers.

How much will Texas miss Smothers and Townsend? Can the defense slow down the Tigers offense? Which version of quarterback Arch Manning will show up in Columbia?

For four games in a row, Texas has jumped out to an early lead and then coughed it up by the end of the third quarter. UT is 2-2 in that stretch. A coin flip. Twice the dam broke and twice it didn't.

I think the defense will save the offense again.

Final Score: Texas 27, Missouri 24
