The Alabama football program is currently gearing up for its upcoming matchup on the road against the LSU Tigers. The Crimson Tide are coming off a bye week and will likely need to win this game against Lane Kiffin and company in order to keep their playoff hopes alive this year.

Heading into the game, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer revealed his message to quarterback Keelon Russell as he prepares for the tough environment.

““I think it’s just learning from what you’ve been through. It’s not just a road environment that we’ve been in. It’s all the experiences that you’ve been through to this point in the season. Understanding down-and-distance situation. Understanding how each game — there’s ebbs and flows. But you just got to stay steady and give yourself a chance to see the next play, right?” said DeBoer, per Charlie Potter of On3 Sports.

Russell got off to a red-hot start to the season for the Crimson Tide but came crashing back to Earth with two straight rough performances against the Georgia Bulldogs and the Tennessee Volunteers, both of which Alabama ended up losing.

Russell bounced back last time out against the Texas A&M Aggies, but he will face arguably his toughest challenge yet in having to take on the Tigers in Death Valley.

“It’s keeping yourself upright, getting rid of the football. I think that’s, again, something that he continues to improve at,” DeBoer added.

As previously mentioned, due to their two losses, Alabama needs a win in this one to keep any realistic chance of making the playoffs alive.

Kickoff between Alabama and LSU is set for Saturday at 3:30 pm ET from Baton Rouge.
