Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide have received quite a shocking news recently. The college football program is currently third in the SEC with a 4-2 record, and has an overall 6-2 record. The team beat the Texas A&M Aggies barely with a 31-20 score.

While things are going fairly well on the field, a player’s action off it has caused the head coach to take drastic action.

Kalen DeBoer kicks player from program

Alabama’s junior defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. has been permanently dismissed from the football program following his arrest on misdemeanor charges of harassing communications and doxing. This comes after he was initially suspended by the team. The arrest occurred on October 23, 2026, and the suspension forced the team to make a late adjustment to the team’s SEC availability report less than two hours before the eventual victory over Texas A&M.

DeBoer addressed the disciplinary action with a written statement released by the program. He confirmed that the player is no longer with the team. The coach said, “After gathering more information on the situation, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. will no longer be a part of our program. He did not live up to the standards and expectations that I have set for this team and our players.” The dismissal serves as an important message to the rest of the players.

The victim of the doxing in the case was University of Alabama police officer Christopher Fuerch, who originally arrested Kirkpatrick Jr. in 2025 on multiple traffic-related charges, including attempting to elude law enforcement. On October 20, 2026, Kirkpatrick Jr. sent the officer an aggressive message via Facebook Messenger. The officer then discovered Kirkpatrick Jr. had posted a photo of the officer’s wife and two children on Facebook with the caption “Dis him?”

Fearing for his family’s safety due to the player’s large public following, the officer reported the incident. Kirkpatrick Jr. was arrested on October 23, 2026, and was subsequently released from the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $1,500 bond. He faces ongoing legal proceedings, including an upcoming court appearance scheduled for November 18, 2026, regarding his previous traffic offenses.

Kirkpatrick Jr. entered the 2026 season having appeared in all seven previous contests, registering five total tackles, one pass deflection, and a forced fumble. This is the second time in consecutive seasons the defensive back has faced team discipline, and he will now no longer play with the team. The head coach also talked about the team.

Kalen DeBoer speaks on team’s injury situation

In the same media availability, DeBoer addressed the team’s injury situation. Many players missed the previous game due to injury. The coach expressed hope that some of them could recover ahead of the next game. He said, “Really, a lot of the guys are, this is a big week. And they’re not in the clear yet, but we’re hoping that that rolls over into next week to where they’ll be out there practicing.”

He added, “I’m proud of the way the guys worked through the last couple of weeks. They responded with the work in practice that matters. They understand what matters the guys just continue to play, play team football, doing what they can to help us find a way to win.”

Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide will now focus on the next game against LSU.
