South Carolina (4-3, 2-3 SEC) defeated No. 11 Tennessee (6-2, 3-2 SEC), 27-24, on Saturday in Week 8 at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina.
South Carolina kicker Malik Orsan converted a 48-yard field as time expired.
The Vols committed one turnover, resulting in three points, and 12 penalties for 90 yards.
Sixth-year Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel discussed the Vols' performance after the game.
"Give credit, South Carolina made plays down the the stretch that, you know, put them in position to to win the football game," Heupel said. "You know, for us, guys competed hard. We didn't play smart enough, offensively, penalties just crushed us, and you let a good football team hang around on the road. It's got a chance to bite you in. It sure did at the end."
The Vols will have an open date in Week 9.
