After the Texas football team’s brutal loss to the Florida Gators on Saturday afternoon, 27-24, all eyes are on star quarterback Arch Manning after another disappointing outing. While Manning’s performance with the Texas football team in the Gators’ loss is a tough pill to swallow, head coach Steve Sarkisian would give his thoughts on the possibility of the quarterback being benched.

Speaking to the media after the loss, Sarkisian was asked if there was ever a thought of benching Manning during the game to get the offense going, which led to the coach talking about future planning. Sarkisian would make sure to mention that “everything is going to be evaluated.”

“I just felt like we didn’t play good offensive football, and we’re not playing great offensive football right now. So everything is going to be evaluated,” Sarkisian said, via Underdog CFB.

In the loss, Manning threw for 173 yards with one touchdown pass on completing 14 out of 20 pass attempts, as he also let go of a game-changing fumble towards the end of the fourth quarter, which sealed the win for Florida.

“Obviously, I’m extremely disappointed,” Sarkisian said, via ESPN. “We didn’t play very good football today, outside about the first quarter. We kind of bled out.”

“We’re not playing very good football right now,” Sarkisian continued. “I have to evaluate everything. It’s gonna be a long night.”

Texas football’s Steve Sarkisian says blame is on everyone

While a lot of people in the college football world would point the finger at Manning for Texas football’s win, Sarkisian wants to clarify that when he means evaluating “everything,” he does mean every aspect of the team.

“It would be easy for me to say, ‘Hey, Arch was the problem today.’ Was Arch perfect? No. But nobody was perfect on offense today,” Sarkisian said.

“I don’t know how many times I need to say it,” Sarkisian continued. “We’re going to evaluate everything from an offensive perspective. Part of that is playcalling.”

It remains to be seen if Manning will be benched as the Longhorns look to bounce back against No. 9 Ole Miss on Saturday, Oct. 24.
