Week 8 doesn’t have a lot of headline games, but there are some headline players to keep your eyes on this week. Here are a few important players to watch on Saturday.
DeSean Bishop is on an absolute tear, and he’s making the most noise against SEC competition. Bishop rushed for over 150 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Volunteers to a big upset over Alabama last Saturday. This week, he travels to South Carolina for a matchup against a Gamecocks team looking to keep its momentum rolling after upsetting Florida on the road two weeks ago.
If South Carolina can slow Bishop down, the Gamecocks can win this game. However, so far this season, no one has been able to consistently accomplish that. Bishop has over 800 rushing yards through the first seven weeks of the season, along with 10 touchdowns. This game will kick off at 2:30 PM on ESPN.
Trinidad Chambliss is firmly in Heisman contention with the season he’s having. Right now, he has the Rebels ranked in the top 10, with an opportunity to earn a statement SEC road win as they travel to Austin, Texas, to take on the Longhorns at 6:30 PM on ABC.
Chambliss can improve his chances of winning the Heisman, move Ole Miss up in the rankings, and essentially end Texas and Arch Manning’s postseason hopes with a victory.
Here’s a little Group of Six action to watch as Dylan Riley and Boise State take on Washington State at 5 PM. Riley has an opportunity to take the national lead in rushing yards on Saturday with another productive performance.
He’s currently averaging 6.6 yards per carry and has rushed for at least 93 yards in five consecutive games. Boise State is currently ranked No. 21 in the country, and Riley is an integral part of the Broncos’ success.
