No. 23 South Carolina can keep piling the misery on Texas A&M this Saturday if it manages to seal a third consecutive home win over the Aggies. Mike Elko’s men are 1-4 in the SEC (4-4 overall) and on track to record Texas A&M’s first losing campaign since 2022 unless there’s an imminent change in fortunes – and soon.

The Aggies offense in particular has let the team down considering Elko’s defense is 27th in the country in scoring, allowing just 18.9 points per game. That’s way out of whack with an offense averaging just 347 scrimmage yards per game (106th in the NCAA), failing to record a touchdown in two of its three games against ranked opposition so far this term.

South Carolina has shown more mettle in recent wins over No. 25 Florida, No. 16 Tennessee and Oklahoma, averaging 36.9 points scored per game across the season. The Gamecocks are producing more than 100 yards scrimmage yards above Texas A&M’s mark (464.1 ppg, 15th in FBS) and suddenly find themselves back in the running for a maiden CFP berth.

Sophomore LaNorris Sellers enjoyed a season’s best performance in last week’s 42-25 win over Oklahoma, completing 19 of his 24 pass attempts for 301 yards and three touchdowns along with 96 rushing yards and two TDs on the ground. He has also thrown three interceptions across his last two games (seven this season), offering this Texas A&M defense hope of interrupting the Gamecocks’ rhythm if it can show up against higher-tier opposition.
