The first College Football Playoff rankings reinforced the committee's love for the SEC with five SEC teams included in the projected 12-team playoff field.

Alabama landing at No. 5 was the eyebrow raiser, while Notre Dame (No. 11) and Ohio State (No. 12) got some reality checks. But as Irish coach Marcus Freeman said Saturday, "What we’re ranked today, that has no (indication) of what it’s going to be in a couple weeks and we learned that lesson last year. So don’t worry about the rankings, right now. Worry about it at the end of the season.”

Week 10 bold predictions: College football’s biggest Saturday gets wild

Notre Dame has a virtual must-win game against top-ranked Miami, while the Buckeyes host Oregon, who was ranked No. 23 in the initial CFP rankings. Ohio State needs to prove to the committee it can with without Julian Sayin.

Then there's the Holy War between Utah (No. 3 in CFP) and BYU (No. 9). Oh, and Kentucky at Tennessee, Georgia at Ole Miss, Alabama at LSU, Texas at Missouri... You get the idea.
