This offseason, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been assembling a new roster as they look to be one of the upper-echelon teams in the Western Conference. Earlier this summer, they traded for former Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, and just recently, they signed former Atlanta Hawks forward Jonathan Kuminga. 

Kuminga signed a two-year deal worth $13 million with Minnesota, and some feel like that was not enough to pry him away from the Atlanta Hawks. Former Hawks guard Gilbert Arenas shared his thoughts on Kuminga's new deal on social media, and he wasn't pleased with what he signed for, considering the Hawks were interested in bringing him back. 

"You was just balling in Atlanta, you did all this waiting just for you to sign a Costco members deal," Arenas said. 

Arenas uses the phrase "Costco members deal" to suggest that Kuminga did not sign for as much as he's actually worth, and he believes the Hawks would have been happy to bring him back this summer, especially at that price.

Jonathan Kuminga has had his highs and lows in his career up to this point. He started his career with the Golden State Warriors, and while he was relatively productive with the franchise, he was not seen as a long-term option and was eventually traded in the middle of last season. 

With this move to the Timberwolves, Kuminga and his camp could be focusing on winning as well as developing into a player who reaches his ceiling. He joins a team with a dynamic backcourt that has LaMelo Ball, one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NBA, and Anthony Edwards, one of the best scorers in the league. 

With most of the attention likely going to the two guards, this could open up opportunities for him to score and be more productive. Defensively, Kuminga is widely regarded as one of the most capable defensive power forwards because of his length and athleticism. 

Considering how much the deal is worth, Kuminga could be looking to play his way into getting a big extension with the Timberwolves following this season. Jonathan Kuminga showed in various games that he can be a scoring threat with the Atlanta Hawks, and he scored 27 points in his debut game with the team.

If head coach Chris Finch and the coaching staff can unlock Kuminga's offensive capabilities alongside this starting lineup, he could have a career year ahead of him and the Timberwolves will be a very versatile group.
