One of the heavyweight matchups this weekend is #2 Georgia (7-1) going to #10 Ole Miss (6-2). The Rebels look to keep their 16-game winning streak at home alive. Both Georgia and Ole Miss both came away with a win last week. The Bulldogs beat their rival Florida, 27-8, while Ole Miss thrashed Auburn 45-15.
Following the bye week, Georgia came out focused and played one of its best games of the season. The Bulldogs forced the Gators into using a backup quarterback after two early interceptions and ended up forcing four overall. Georgia held Florida to 252 yards and ran for 217 yards themselves. Gunner Stockton threw for a season-low 101 passing yards and 4.4 yards per pass. The Bulldogs offense will certainly have to take some shots to go score for score with the Trinidad Chambliss and the Rebels.
After beating Georgia, Auburn was demolished on the road at Ole Miss. The Rebels needed the bounce-back after losing at Texas. Ole Miss outgained Auburn 487-312 in yards and ran for 224 on 49 carries (4.6 ypc). The Rebels were without Kewan Lacy, who suffered a dislocated shoulder and will need surgery, so the offense isn't 100 percent ahead of this matchup. Trinidad Chambliss threw for 263 yards and ran for another 65, plus three total touchdowns (2 pass, 1 rush). The shifty Chambliss has only been sacked once in the last three games, which will be the biggest challenge for the Bulldogs' front seven. Georgia won last year's shootout in Athens, 43-35 as Stockton/Chambliss combined for eight touchdowns (5 pass, 3 rush) and 653 yards of total offense!
Let’s dive into the schools on both sides of the ball, look at a few key players, and see where the numbers take us.

The Georgia Bulldogs Offense:
Georgia routinely had stellar field position versus Florida. The defense had its best first half of the season, which allowed Georgia to jump out to a 24-0 lead and sit on Florida in the second half for a 27-8 win. The Bulldogs saved themselves for this Ole Miss matchup, and specifically, Gunner Stockton wasn't asked to do much through the air with 23 pass attempts, most coming within 10 yards. Stockton turned the ball over three times against Auburn, so the Bulldogs clearly didn't want to put him in harm's way. Georgia ran for 217 yards and averaged 5.2 yards per carry. In the loss to Auburn, Georgia averaged 4.0 ypc and had 111 rushing yards, so the committee looked back on track while they await the return of running back Chauncey Bowens.
Georgia Player to Watch on Offense: QB Gunner Stockton
Georgia's rushing game and defense were so good that Gunner Stockton didn't have to do much against Florida. Stockton had his first game of the season without a touchdown passing or rushing, and had one more completion (13) than rushing attempts (12). Stockton finished 13-of-23 for 101 passing yards and 45 rushing yards on 12 carries. Georgia ran for 5.2 yards per carry and totaled 217 yards and two scores versus Florida. Georgia fans will hope Stockton can channel his 2025 self for this meeting. Last year versus Ole Miss, Stockton threw four touchdowns with no picks, ran for another score, and had 289 passing yards on 26-of-31. It was Stockton's best game of the season.
The Georgia Bulldogs Defense:
To start the game against Florida, the Bulldogs' defense grabbed six interceptions, forced two punts, and recovered a fumble over the first five drives. One of those turnovers turned into a 66-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Florida trotted out Aaron Philo, and it didn't even last a half as he was replaced in the second quarter. Georgia's defense ended the day with four sacks, 11 TFLs, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one recovered fumble. In the first half, Georgia allowed 100 total yards, with 59 of them coming on the last eight plays of the half. It was the best defensive showing of the season in a bounce-back spot and coming off a bye week. We shouldn't be surprised that Kirby Smart had them boys ready to go.
Georgia Player to Watch on Defense: LB Chris Cole
Last week, Chris Cole blacked out. The Bulldogs linebacker had nine tackles, one sack, and a 66-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Cole is putting up his best numbers right now. Over the last three games, Cole has 27 tackles, two sacks, two pass deflections, and the fumble touchdown. Cole had one game with eight or more tackles in the first five games, but has three straight entering this matchup. Cole has six career tackles in two meetings with Ole Miss during his Bulldogs' career.

#10 Ole Miss Rebels
Head Coach: Pete Golding
2026 Record: 6-2 (4-2)
Offensive Points Per Game: 37.1 (16th)
Defensive Points Per Game: 24.0 (64th)
2026 Strength of Schedule: 4th
2026 Remaining Strength of Schedule: 30th
The Ole Miss Rebels Offense:
The Ole Miss offense isn't 100 percent, but still should be a dangerous unit. Without Kewan Lacy, the shoulders of Trinidad Chambliss become a little heavier down the stretch. Ole Miss erupted for 45 points against Auburn, with most of the damage coming in the second half, including three of Chambliss' four touchdowns. Ole Miss need dup running four 224 yards, 4.6 ypc and four touchdowns without Lacy against Auburn, but the loss may matter more here. Against Texas, the Rebels only managed 113 rushing yards on 30 carries (3.8 you) and didn't score. Chambliss threw two scores, and the other touchdown was a sack-fumble touchdown. If you don't have a running game against Georgia, teams tend to become too predictable. Last year, Chambliss shined versus Georgia with over 300 yards and three total touchdowns, but the run game only managed 88 yards on 24 carries (3.7 ypc). On a positive note, the run game did account for four of the six touchdowns, all coming within the seven-yard line.
Ole Miss Player to Watch on Offense: QB Trinidad Chambliss
Trinidad Chambliss has totaled at least two touchdowns in all eight games and threw for 250-plus yards five times. In the second half against Auburn, Chambliss ran for a 26-yard score and threw touchdowns of six and 28 yards en route to a 31-6 run after the break. Chambliss is sitting on the outside looking in for a Heisman trophy and would put his name at the top with a win over Georgia and some help. Chambliss has 25 total touchdowns (18 pass, 7 rush), ranks 10th in QBR (82.1), and 13th in passing yards (2,189). Chambliss's biggest issue has been turnovers. Last year, he threw three interceptions on 445 pass attempts. This season, Chambliss has eight interceptions on 296 passes, including four picks in the last two games (3 at Texas). Last season, Chambliss went 19-of-36 for 263 passing yards, one touchdown, and nine carries for 42 yards, and two scores.
The Ole Miss Defense:
The Ole Miss defense has had its moments lately. In three of the last four games, the Rebels held their opponents to 17 or fewer points, excluding the 34-27 loss at Texas. Since the 52-28 loss to Florida, Ole Miss' rush defense went from worst in the SEC to middle of the pack with 103, 39, 207, and 63 yards allowed — the 207-yard effort was in the loss to Texas. Despite that outing, Ole Miss has looked much better and capable of hanging with Georgia. The Rebels had four sacks, 10 TFL, and two fumbles recovered in the 45-15 win over Auburn. Last year, Ole Miss didn't force a turnover, had one sack, and three TFL at Georgia. The 43 points Georgia put up was a season-high allowed by the Ole Miss defense.
Ole Miss Player to Watch on Defense: LB Suntarine Perkins
Versus Auburn, Suntarine Perkins tied a career-high with 2.0 sacks, while also adding five tackles and a pass deflection. Perkins has 3.5 sacks over three different games this season, and last year, he registered the third-most tackles of his career (10) at Georgia, plus a forced fumble and recovery. In 2024, he had a sack, a fumble recovery, and two tackles versus Georgia, so I'd expect another big player or two from Perkins against the Bulldogs.

Rotoworld Best Bets
Vaughn Dalzell (@VmoneySports) leans Georgia -3.5:
"This is a tough game, but I still believe Georgia might be the best team in the country. The Bulldogs lost to Auburn 27-24, and Ole Miss turned around and whooped the Tigers 45-15, so some people will like Ole Miss off that, or the fact they are getting points as a home underdog, where they've won 16 straight (at home). With Kewan Lacy hurt, Ole Miss isn't 100-percent, and I think Chambliss will have too much on his shoulders — it's been evident with eight interceptions this season. Georgia put up 43 points on Ole Miss last year, and while this game will be lower-scoring, it's hard for me to see Ole Miss putting up enough points to have a chance at keeping this within one possession. Ole Miss might be fighting for a backdoor cover, in my opinion. I lean Georgia -3.5, but test the prop market."
