Florida’s upset over No. 7 Texas was the biggest upset of the day until Auburn went into Athens and stunned No. 1 Georgia.
Georgia had the ball late in the fourth quarter and a chance to win, but quarterback Gunner Stockton ran into his teammate and fumbled while trying to scramble. Auburn recovered the ball and drove down the field before Alex McPherson drilled a 34-yard field goal for the win.
The win gets Auburn to 4-2 overall, while Georgia is now 6-1. This is the first time since 1990 that the No. 1 team in the country has lost to an unranked team in back-to-back weeks.
To go even further, Auburn is the first unranked team to upset the No. 1 team on the road since 2007, when Arkansas went to Baton Rouge and beat LSU.

A deserved loss for Georgia

Georgia led 14-7 at the end of the first quarter, but Auburn took over after that. Auburn outscored Georgia 20-10 in the final three quarters to win the game and played some excellent defense, forcing three turnovers.
Georgia didn’t force any turnovers in this game, and it’s hard to win when your turnover differential is -3.
The Bulldogs will now have to regroup before their next game against the Gators, who are now 5-2 after Saturday’s win over the Longhorns. That game will take place on Halloween.
