Georgia football again is looking to the junior college ranks to bolster its 2027 recruiting class.

This time it’s with a flip from another SEC school.

Northeast Mississippi Community College defensive lineman Christian Mays announced Monday on X that he’s changed his commitment from Tennessee to Georgia. He had committed to Tennessee in June.

The 6-foot-5 Mays is the nation’s No. 1 junior college defensive lineman and the No. 3 overall JUCO prospect by the 247 Sports Composite.

Georgia also has a commitment from the nation’s top JUCO prospect in cornerback Alius Mayo from Modesto College in California.

Mays, from Denver, has 15 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and a forced fumble this season in 7 games. He had 19 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 1 ½ sacks in eight games in 2025.

Just wanted to express how thankful I am for the whole Tennessee program for recruiting me and believing in me. After a lot of thought and prayer and deep conversations with my family , I’ve decided to decommit from Tennessee and is now committed to The University of Georgia.… pic.twitter.com/IJxlByiqkm

Mays is the fourth defensive line commitment in the 2027 class, joining 3-star Antown McKoy of St. Pauls, N.C., 3-star Marcellus Young Casario from Rabun Gap-Nacoochee and 3-star Waylon Wooten of Grayson.

Mays becomes Georgia’s 24th commitment in this cycle.
