Former Texas A&M WR leads the SEC in receiving yards

Texas A&M currently sits at 2-2 and 0-2 in SEC play after losing to LSU 35-6 last Saturday night, and while it's still early in the season, the Aggies don't look like a good football team and will now enter Week 5, set to host Arkansas, with their reputation on the line, as the dedicated fan base has all but given up on the program and is beginning to doubt third-year coach Mike Elko's ability to lead.

Still, after leading the Aggies to the College Football Playoff last season, Elko and the 2026 roster deserve a shot to redeem themselves against the Razorbacks this weekend, entering the week as a 14-point favorite, which confused most of the fan base after failing to score a touchdown against LSU's defense that gave up 32 points against Ole Miss the week prior.

While I don't need to remind Aggie fans that starting quarterback Marcel Reed, who threw for a pedestrian 106 yards and zero touchdowns against the Tigers, is struggling mightily, Texas A&M's secondary, which is now a problem after allowing LSU QB Sam Leavitt to pass for 312 yards and two touchdowns, will now face Arkansas and former Texas A&M wide receiver Chris Marshall, who leads the SEC with 473 receiving yards.

Chris Marshall was one of half a dozen five-star commits in former Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher's "historic" 2022 recruiting class, but, like all but two players from the cycle, things didn't work out in College Station, leading to his one year at Kilgore College, two seasons at Boise State, and now his final season with the Razorbacks.

Standing 6'3" and 213 pounds, Marshall made one of the best one-handed catches you'll see all season during Arkansas's blowout home loss to Georgia, reeling in a team-high seven receptions for 146 yards, combined with his nine receptions for 195 yards during Saturday's 34-6 home win over Tulsa.

After giving up 125 yards and a touchdown against LSU, senior cornerback Dezz Ricks will be tasked with covering Chris Marshall, which could get ugly if the veteran starter doesn't improve.
