Former Tennessee offensive coordinators will face Vols with Auburn

No. 17 Tennessee (3-1, 0-1 SEC) will host Auburn (3-1, 1-1 SEC) on Saturday in Week 5 at Neyland Stadium (3:30 p.m. EDT, ESPN).

Saturday's game will mark a return to Tennessee for Larry Scott. He served as an assistant coach for the Vols from 2016-17 under head coach Butch Jones and interim head coach Brady Hoke.

Scott is in his first season as Auburn's tight ends coach under head coach and former Tennessee offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Alex Golesh.

Scott was Tennessee's tight ends coach in 2016 and served as offensive coordinator and tight ends coach in 2017.

He was an offensive tackle at South Florida from 1996-99 before his coaching career. Scott began his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant with the Bulls in 2006. He remained with South Florida from 2007-12, serving as tight ends coach (2007-08, 2010-11), offensive line coach (2009) and running backs coach in 2012.

Scott was tight ends coach at Miami from 2013-15. He was named interim head coach for the Hurricanes in 2015, guiding the team to a 4-2 record (4-1 ACC) record.

Scott returned to the SEC as Florida's tight ends coach from 2018-19.

Before arriving at Auburn with Golesh, he served as head coach at Howard from 2020-25. Scott compiled a 23-37 (12-15 MEAC) record and won two Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships from 2022-23.
