Former Tennessee basketball forward Jaylen Carey has been suspended indefinitely by Missouri, according to Tigers coach Dennis Gates on Nov. 2.

Gates said the senior transfer was suspended for a "violation of team rules." He did not give a timetable for his return to the team and chose not to provide any additional details on the suspension when asked by the Columbia Daily Tribune.

Carey participated in the Tigers' pro day practice on Oct. 11, but did not play in either of their exhibition games against Kansas State on Oct. 23 and UNLV on Oct. 29.

The 6-foot-8, 255-pound Carey transferred to Missouri from Tennessee on April 13. He averaged 7.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists on 48.7% shooting from the floor through 37 games for the Vols last season.

Carey started in eight games and was a core rotation player on Tennessee's run to the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament.

He had previous stops at James Madison and Vanderbilt before coming to Tennessee.

Tennessee plays the Tigers twice this season, with the first meeting at Food City Center on Jan. 13, 2027.
