Florida football snapped its two-game skid on Saturday with a huge win in Austin over Texas — the program's first-ever victory on the Longhorns' home turf and first top-10 road win since 2012.
The offense looked solid with Tramell Jones Jr. under center in his first collegiate start and the defense showed resilience that had been lacking in previous outings. Jon Sumrall's squad had just enough moxie to pull things off after a late rally by the home team.
After falling out of the AP Top 25 last week, the Gators find themselves back in the mix at No. 20 with 355 points, putting them between No. 19 Texas (440) and No. 21 Boise State (295).
Florida is joined by eight fellow SEC schools in the rankings after Week 7, led by fifth-ranked Georgia, followed by Ole Miss (No. 7), Tennessee (No. 11), Kentucky (No. 12), Alabama (No. 13), LSU (No. 18), Texas (No. 19), Florida (No. 20) and Missouri (No. 22). Auburn and Mississippi State also appeared on the ballot with 61 and 52 points, respectively.
The Gators also made their way back into the US LBM Coaches Poll top 25 and now sit at No. 24.
Next up, Florida has a bye week before facing Georgia in the annual rivalry game on Saturday, Oct. 31. That game will be played in Atlanta and broadcast on ABC starting at 3:30 p.m. ET.
