Florida football rose to No. 5 in Rivals' industry team recruiting rankings for the 2027 class and No. 2 in the SEC, behind only Texas A&M.

The Gators' position is particularly noteworthy coming off the heels of wide receiver Easton Royal's commitment. Jon Sumrall managed to flip the five-star, New Orleans, Louisiana, native from Texas earlier this month.

Sumrall has secured 18 blue-chip commitments, with two five-star prospects choosing UF: Royal and offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller. The Gators have lured 16 four-star prospects and eight three-star prospects to complete the 26-player class.

Florida's average recruiting rating is 90.21, demonstrating the depth of this cycle. Florida leads a host of traditional recruiting powers, including Ohio State, Texas, LSU and Michigan.

Royal's flip has provided a late boost for UF, pushing Florida into the top five after the program spent much of the offseason outside the top 10 after missing out on top-100 OL Kennedeee Jackson. Despite the Gators' struggles on the field, the upcoming crop of talent should give fans plenty of optimism moving forward.
