Week 8 ended Saturday night, a few hours after Oklahoma State beat Colorado 57-24. The Buffaloes aren't sniffing a ranking in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, and after a chaos-filled weekend in the Big 12, the conference hurt its chances of multiple College Football Playoff bids.
Despite upsets across the conference, five Big 12 teams made the updated coaches poll. Utah rallied late at home to beat a ranked Houston team, moving up four spots to No. 5. BYU's overtime road loss to UCF dropped the Cougars six spots to No. 9. Texas Tech, which lost to Cincinnati, fell nine spots to No. 14. Houston dropped three spots to No. 19 after losing to Utah. Arizona enters the poll at No. 21 as the last-ranked Big 12 team.
Oklahoma State remained just outside the poll despite its impressive win over the Buffaloes. The Cowboys received 120 votes, the highest amount of any unranked team. Cincinnati joins OSU in the receiving-votes section with 49, and UCF received one vote.
Elsewhere in college football, the top 10 saw a major reshuffle after the top two spots. Behind Miami (No. 1) and Ohio State (No. 2), Georgia moved to No. 3, followed by Indiana, Utah, Notre Dame, UCLA and Kentucky.
Iowa and USC fell 10 spots, moving to No. 24 and No. 25, respectively. Texas made the biggest jump, moving up seven spots to No. 11 after beating Ole Miss.
