Indiana football has faced enormous challenges over its past four games, but it remains one of the nation's top-ranked teams.

The Hoosiers are ranked No. 3 in the USA TODAY coaches poll, up one position from last week, and No. 6 by The Associated Press, a two-spot drop, on Sunday, Nov. 1.

In its last four games, IU has rallied to beat Nebraska, narrowly lost to Ohio State, and posted overtime wins over Michigan and Minnesota.

Miami (Fla.) gets 68 first-place votes from the coaches in holding on to No. 1 after thwarting a challenge by North Carolina. Georgia gets four first-place votes and moves up to No. 2 after Ohio State loses. Kentucky gets one No. 1 vote and is eighth.

IU leads six Big Ten squads in the rankings: UCLA is fifth; Ohio State is 10th; USC is 17th; Iowa is 20th, and Northwestern is 23rd.

The first College Football Playoff rankings list will be released Tuesday, Nov. 3. The Hoosiers have next weekend off.
