Former SEC football head coach Dennis Franchione died Tuesday. He was 75.

Franchione coached collegiality at Southwestern (1981-82), Pittsburg State (1985-89), Southwest Texas State (1990-91), New Mexico (1992-97), TCU (1998-2000), Alabama (2001-02), Texas A&M (2003-07) and Texas State (2011-15). He compiled a 213-135-2 career record.

Franchione went 1-1 in the Tennessee-Alabama series. He ended the Vols' seven-game series win streak on Oct. 26, 2002, winning at Neyland Stadium, 34-14. Alabama finished his second and final season with a 10-3 (6-2 SEC) record in 2002, including a, 31-0, win over LSU and head coach Nick Saban.

Tennessee defeated Franchione and the Crimson Tide, 35-24, on Oct. 20, 2001 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He went 7-5 (4-4 SEC) at Alabama in 2001.

Franchione also faced the Vols on Jan. 1, 2005 with Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl. Tennessee won, 38-7, in Dallas, Texas.

From 1983-84, he served as Tennessee Tech's offensive coordinator.
