The Colorado football team is now 2-3 on the season, after a blowout loss to Texas Tech Saturday at home. Colorado failed to score in the second half of the game. Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is challenging his quarterbacks, following the disappointing loss.

“That’s the position that’s somewhat disabling us and disarming us,” Sanders said, per ESPN. “Somebody’s got to step up and take hold of it and get it done.”

Colorado has used multiple starting quarterbacks this season. The Buffaloes have struggled to score points against power 4 competition. In losses to Northwestern, Texas Tech and Baylor, the Buffaloes have posted just 27 total points.

Sanders bemoaned the play of his football team following the blowout loss to the Red Raiders. Colorado took a 7-3 lead into the locker room at halftime.

“The score is not indicative of who these guys are and who we are,” Sanders said. “I don’t believe so. It’s just very unfortunate.

“I expected a win. That’s what I expected today. A tremendous win that would’ve made the bye week so much better. We’re going to work. We’re going to right the wrongs, looking to see how some of the young men respond.”

Colorado is now tied for last in the Big 12 standings, with a 0-2 conference mark. The Buffaloes have now lost 10 of their last 11 Big 12 conference games, going back to 2025.

Sanders is under fire from Colorado fans after this rough start. Colorado dismissed players from the team earlier this season, after a blowout loss to Northwestern. The Buffaloes are trying to avoid their third losing season in four total years under Sanders.
