College Football Week 7 featured a string of stunning upsets and unexpected outcomes, making the national championship race more unpredictable than ever. With several highly ranked teams suffering surprising losses, Dave Portnoy revealed his latest AP Top 10 rankings.
In a post on X, the Barstool Sports founder reacted to the chaotic Saturday slate, sharing his updated list of the top 10 teams in college football.
“That was the wackiest, wildest, most awesome day of college football of all time. Here is my new top 10. But 1 thing is clear. Anybody can beat anybody and the Big 12 needs multiple teams in the playoffs,” Portnoy wrote, ranking BYU, UCLA, Texas Tech, Miami, Utah, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia in his new top 10.

BYU’s stunning 28-24 victory over No. 2 Notre Dame stood out as one of the weekend’s biggest results. The Cougars rallied in the closing minutes to defeat the Fighting Irish for the first time since 2004.
However, BYU was not the only team to pull off a significant result during Week 7. No. 1 Georgia suffered a 27-24 loss to Auburn, while No. 6 Alabama saw a convincing 26-10 loss to No. 14 Tennessee.
Texas also endured a disappointing outing, falling 27-24 to Florida on its home field. Meanwhile, No. 5 Indiana lost 19-15 to No. 4 Ohio State. With several prominent programs losing on the same day, the results significantly shook up the college football landscape.
The weekend let all the college football fans understand that rankings alone cannot determine the outcome of a game. Regardless of a team’s position in the polls, every matchup presents an opportunity for an underdog to challenge expectations and produce a memorable upset.
The results also sparked an immediate debate over which team would claim the No. 1 spot in Sunday’s AP Poll. However, according to NCAA.com, first-place votes were split among three teams entering Sunday: No. 3 Miami (FL), No. 4 Ohio State and No. 8 BYU.
