‘Colorado Is an Unmitigated Disaster,’ ‘Ceiling Is So Much Higher With Julian Lewis’ — CFB Fans Rip Deion Sanders for Igniting QB Controversy

The Colorado Buffaloes program is in a downward spiral right now.

The glamour of having Deion Sanders as their head coach is over, and it’s time to start winning instead of resting on the laurels of the years when they had Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Things are only getting worse with a QB controversy starting to brew.

Sanders hasn’t made an official announcement yet, but reports seem to be pointing in that direction.

Colorado’s QB Controversy Is Heating Up

This week, speculation emerged that Sanders would make a change under center for their matchup against Texas Tech, a move that was greeted by more than enough skepticism.

One fan on X flat-out remarked, “Colorado is an unmitigated disaster.”

Fans are getting tired of the fact that the Buffaloes haven’t gotten much better in recent years, even after having a Heisman winner and an NFL quarterback on the same roster. Since then, they haven’t really competed at the level people expected and haven’t taken that next step the program was supposed to take.

A Colorado native took to X and said, “The ceiling is so much higher with Julian Lewis. I really do think he gives the Buffs the best chance to win.” This fan clearly thinks that moving on from former five-star QB Julian Lewis would be a mistake and that he still has a lot of potential to get over the hump and take that next step for himself and the program.

This may be the case, especially when looking at his track record from high school, but the results on the field just haven’t been there. His PFN CFB QB Impact Grades reflect that, with a 64.1 score in 2025 and a 70.3 grade four games into the season.

One other fan said, “Juju is a lose-lose right now. If he doesn’t start, he’ll want to transfer, and if he does start and plays bad, he’ll get yanked and want to transfer. Taking him out was the final straw. (IMO)!”

In this day and age, Lewis would most likely transfer and use the portal to find his new home.

However, Isaac Wilson could be the spark the team needs to finally get into the win column.

One more fan remarked, “Ohhh lawd have mercy. Isaac Wilson’s first start at Colorado is against Tech??”

If Wilson is indeed the guy, then having his first start of the season come against Texas Tech wouldn’t be the best-case scenario. But he’s probably not looking at it that way. He’ll just want to get out there and ball out.

Luckily, this won’t be Wilson’s first actual start, as he already had multiple starts under his belt during his time at Utah.

Although no decision is final yet, one is expected to be made soon. This decision, whether it’s Wilson or Lewis, will be crucial for how the Buffaloes finish the season and whether Deion Sanders’ hot seat gets even hotter.
