Week 9 of the college football season nearly brought a new No. 1 team in the country.

Instead, Miami will head into its Week 10 top-five matchup at Notre Dame once again as the hunted thanks to a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns — and botched onside kicks — that helped the Hurricanes stave off a potential upset to Bill Belichick and North Carolina.

Speaking of potential upsets, Indiana needed overtime for a second straight week to avoid its second loss of the season. The Hoosiers turned to backup quarterback Grant Wilson in the second half, and the move paid off. A 60-yard field goal by Paddy McAteer forced overtime, where Wilson connected with Charlie Becker on a 25-yard touchdown pass before Indiana's defense sealed the win with back-to-back sacks of Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey.

Southern California picked up a signature win over No. 2 Ohio State, who played its first game without starting quarterback Julian Sayin. Jayden Maiava threw for 222 yards and a touchdown against the Buckeyes, who got just 10 catches for 83 yards and a score from Jeremiah Smith.
