It took a while, but chaos has finally arrived in the 2026 college football season. There’s a new No. 1 team in the US LBM Coaches Poll, and it undoubtedly won’t surprise anyone.
Georgia takes over the top spot for the first time this season. The Bulldogs received 60 of 74 first-place votes after outlasting Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The voters were kind to the Crimson Tide, who stay put at No. 7.
Notre Dame, an easy winner against Stanford, moves up to No. 2. The Fighting Irish claimed three first-place nods this week. Miami (Fla.) climbs to No. 3 with a single first-place nod. Indiana moves up to No. 4 after surviving a close call at previously unbeaten Nebraska. The Hoosiers received nine of the remaining 10 first-place votes, with the last one going to No. 5 Ohio State.

Texas falls from the top spot to No. 6 following the loss to Red River rival Oklahoma. Big 12 favorites Brigham Young and Texas Tech hold steady at the No. 8 and 9 spots, respectively, and Mississippi returns to the top 10 ahead of No. 11 Utah.
UCLA makes the week’s biggest jump, vaulting 10 places to No. 12 after taking down Oregon on the road. Kentucky gains eight positions to No. 17 thanks to another overtime win, this time against then-No. 10 LSU. Oklahoma State enters the rankings at No. 20, Wake Forest makes its season debut at No. 23, and Boise State joins the poll at No. 24. Florida, Duke and Pittsburgh are the dropouts
