Week 3 of the 2026 college football regular season is in the books and we’re on to Week 4.

Week 4 of the 2026 college football season will be highlighted by some huge games in the SEC, including Texas vs. Tennessee and Ole Miss vs. Florida.

But, before we head into Week 4 games, we have to give some attention to the new Top 25 rankings. Because, according to some college football fans and media personalities, the rankings are “trash.”

Why is Ole Miss, which just took down LSU at home, ranked No. 6 in the country? The Rebels should be higher, right?

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy added: “The rankings in the AP top 25 are an absolute joke.”

College football fans agree on the Top 25 rankings

College football fans and media personalities agree: The Top 25 rankings are based too much on what the preseason rankings look like.

“We rank teams based on their logo & conference affiliation. Always have & always will,” one fan alleged.

“I agree with Pate,” one fan added.

“Part of the reason why I can’t stand preseason rankings. They linger and make the sport look dumber. Ole Miss has to be 1 or 2,” ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg added.

“The preseason AP poll leads to so much bias, which unfortunately, leads to bias in the CFP committee,” one fan added.

Does college football need to look at changing the way teams are being ranked during the season?
