College football needed only one Saturday to completely change the national picture.
Five of the top eight teams in the AP poll lost during Week 7, marking the first time that has happened since 1989. No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Notre Dame both went down, while Alabama, Texas and Indiana also suffered losses.
The chaos directly affects Texas A&M. Alabama, Tennessee and Texas remain on the Aggies’ schedule, and each looked much different by the end of Saturday. Those games are still challenging, but none feel as predictable as they once did.
A&M has plenty of its own problems to solve after an inconsistent first half of the season. However, Week 7 showed that no team is safe and reopened the College Football Playoff picture.
Here are the five results that shook up college football.
Auburn 27, No. 1 Georgia 24

Auburn erased an early 14-point deficit and stunned Georgia in Athens on Alex McPherson’s 34-yard field goal as time expired.
The Tigers scored 24 unanswered points before Georgia rallied to tie in the fourth quarter. Gunner Stockton then fumbled on Georgia’s final possession, giving Auburn the chance to complete the upset.
Auburn’s first victory at Georgia since 1995 ended the Bulldogs’ nine-game winning streak in the rivalry.
No. 8 BYU 28, No. 2 Notre Dame 24

BYU defended its home field and handed Notre Dame its first loss behind quarterback Bear Bachmeier.
Notre Dame took a 24-21 lead during the fourth quarter, but Bachmeier answered with a six-yard touchdown pass to Will Lyons with 1:47 remaining. The Cougars improved to 6-0 while Notre Dame fell from the unbeaten ranks.
No. 4 Ohio State 19, No. 5 Indiana 15

This was not a major upset based on the rankings or betting line, but it removed another top-five team from the undefeated list.
Ohio State ended Indiana’s 22-game winning streak behind another touchdown from Jeremiah Smith and a late defensive stop. The Buckeyes improved to 6-0 and should move closer to the top of the rankings.
No. 14 Tennessee 26, No. 6 Alabama 10

Tennessee delivered one of the day’s biggest statements by holding Alabama to 201 total yards and forcing four turnovers.
DeSean Bishop rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns as the Volunteers pulled away in the second half. Alabama has now lost consecutive regular-season games for the first time since 2007.
That result makes Texas A&M’s trip to Tuscaloosa next Saturday more interesting. The Crimson Tide will try to avoid a third straight loss, while the Aggies will face a team searching for answers.
Florida 27, No. 7 Texas 24

Texas was ranked No. 1 earlier this month. The Longhorns have now lost two straight games.
Florida scored 24 unanswered points after falling behind 17-3 and held on for the road victory. Freshman quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. threw two touchdowns in his first career start, while the Gators recovered an Arch Manning fumble with less than two minutes remaining.
Texas still visits Kyle Field for the regular-season finale, but the Longhorns no longer look unbeatable.
Saturday did not fix anything for Texas A&M, and beating The Citadel does not prove the Aggies are ready to compete with the best teams on their schedule. Still, the results around the country created an opening. If A&M improves in the second half of the season, opportunities remain that didn't look realistic a week ago.
