The College Football Playoff first-round games will once again be held on campus and aren’t technically classified as bowl games.

But for readers wondering where their favorite team ranks in our college football bowl projections, the Boise State Broncos, Missouri Tigers, BYU Cougars, and UCLA Bruins are the teams to fall by the wayside before the quarterfinals. Our projected Power Four conference champions are the Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, BYU Cougars, and the Miami Hurricanes.

After defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide in arguably the biggest game of Week 6 (and perhaps the season), Georgia is locked into the number one seed of our latest college football bowl projections. Kirby Smart’s team has a loaded, balanced roster, with the defensive and offensive playmakers to guide them to the SEC Championship Game and well, well beyond.

It’s a testament to the job Kalen DeBoer is doing with the 2026 Crimson Tide that they entered the game as slight favorites, with Keelon Russell making this Alabama team one of the most dangerous offensive units in college football this season. Our college football bowl projections forecast a rematch of this clash in the Sugar Bowl, and it may end up as part of a trilogy.

The Texas Longhorns may have lost the Red River Rivalry, but Steve Sarkisian’s team still has the College Football Playoff in its destiny. The defeat saw them slide down the AP Poll and the PFN College Football Power Rankings, making the route to Las Vegas more precarious than it could have been. They avoid Georgia this season, but not in our college football bowl projections.
