College football season is already entering Week 6 as top teams are making their cases for a spot in the 2026 College Football Playoff. The latest rankings are out after Week 5, and one AP Top 25 voter is creating significant drama with several selections.
The voter in question released his newest order on Sunday, Oct. 4, leading to major social media discourse about his credibility. Greg Luca, who covers Texas-San Antonio for the San Antonio Express-News, made two viral choices in his latest top 25 ballot.
However, college football fans have been quick to jump on Luca’s picks after noticing some clear SEC bias, although the team he covers certainly has nothing to do with that. Mississippi State suffered a brutal 56-23 beatdown at home against Alabama, but somehow jumped eight spots in the voter’s newest rankings.
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh fell out of the top 25 in Luca’s ballot despite beating an undefeated Virginia Tech on the road. The Panthers did lose starting quarterback Mason Heintschel to a season-ending knee injury, but the team’s 5-0 record surely is still deserving of being ranked.
