Baylor vs. Montgomery Bell Academy Live Updates: Tennessee High School Football

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Two of Tennessee's remaining unbeaten teams collide Friday night when No. 1 Baylor hosts Montgomery Bell Academy in a TSSAA Division II-AAA showdown featuring plenty of firepower on both sides.

Both teams enter at 5-0, but Baylor is the favorite to win at home where they are 3-0 this season, including last week's 42-0 shellacking of Christ Presbyterian Academy. The Red Raiders have won 17 consecutive games since losing to crosstown rival McCallie, 27-21, in the 2024 state championship game.

Montgomery Bell Academy has matched Baylor's record so far, but the Big Red have done it by winning a couple of close scraps along the way against Franklin Road Academy (40-36) and Christian Brothers (22-21). That experience in tight games could help them late tonight if this game is close heading into the later stages.

MBA takes over on the change of downs, and that running clock winds down quickly to end this game.

On a fourth and 14, Manning completes a 6-yard pass to the middle of the field. A little over two minutes left with this running clock.

MBA finally finds the end zone to try and make this look a little more respectable. Tough night for the Big Red, but they're still fighting to their credit.

There's nothing complicated taking place here. Baylor is just 42 points better than MBA tonight, it's that simple. MBA just doesn't have the horses to hang with Baylor's thoroughbreds.

Another long play, and just like that, Baylor makes it 45-3.

MBA forced to punt, and Baylor takes over on its own 25.

And on first down, Baylor gets down inside MBA's 10-yard line looking to end any thoughts of a potential second-half comeback here.

Gabriel George goes around left end for 70 yards and an apparent house call. But laundry on the field is block in the back on the Red Raiders, and it's called back. You still catch a glimpse of his speed on that play.

MBA settles for the field goal on fourth down, and it's good. A curious call trailing 24-0, but there's also something to be said for coming away with points there.

Another incompletion on third down on another rollout. A dangerous jump ball across his body to the back of the end zone, and Baylor knocks it down.

Baylor stuffs MBA on first down. It's a loss of four, and then on second down, MBA's quarterback is forced to throw it away on a rollout around the right end.

A great push by the offensive line, and the Big Red push it all the way down to around the 1-yard line for a first and goal.

MBA finally breaks a big play into Baylor territory down to the Red Raiders' 35.

Gabriel Georges starting to look unstoppable. He carried it in from 37 yards out, and it's 24-0 Baylor.

Baylor opens the second quarter on offense with a three-score lead.

FIRST QUARTER: Baylor 17, MBA 0

And the first quarter comes to a close.

MBA forced into a long third and 13, and they're unable to convert. This time, the punter redeems himself with an excellent punt that rolls down to Baylor's 31. This is the first long field they've faced since the opening drive after mistakes gave them two short fields leading to this 17-0 lead.

MBA desperately needs an answer on this drive.

MBA catches a temporary break when Baylor's David Gabriel-Georges is called for hurdling on a short run. You can't do that at the high school level, but one play later, the 5-star running back carries it in virtually untouched from about 15 yards out. Baylor has a three-score lead in the first quarter.

Another big run for the Red Raiders, and they'll have a first and goal around the 3.

MBA is forced to punt, and they shank it off the side of the foot. Baylor will start on MBA's side of the field already leading 10-0.

MBA fumbles on an option pitch, and Baylor pounces on it. One play later, they're in the end zone. And just like that, it's 10-0.

MBA's defense tightens up from there with the help of a personal foul penalty that put Baylor behind the sticks. The Red Raiders have to settle for the field goal.

Senior quarterback Keegan Croucher and senior running back David Gabriel-Georges remain central figures for a Baylor offense that averages more than 40 points per game. Gabriel-Georges is averaging 187.5 rushing yards per contest, while Baylor's roster also features freshman quarterback Marshall Manning, the son of Peyton Manning.

The young quarterback played two snaps against Brentwood Academy in the season opener, completing a 6-yard pass for a first down before Croucher returned to the game. Manning hasn't played since while reportedly nursing a foot injury, and his status for tonight's game is unclear.

MBA has also been potent on offense, scoring more than 37 points per game while holding opponents to under 17 on average. Junior Bennett Conyers is the highest-rated prospect listed on recruiting sites as a three-star tight end on a team that will have to rely on its collective talent to overcome the big name-stars on the Baylor side.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET Friday at Baylor School's Heywood Stadium in Chattanooga.
