Win this, and the Vols will be in the thick of the SEC title hunt with a shot at the College Football Playoff if they end up at least 10-2.
Alabama struggled through the bad conditions and a horrible missed call in a 20-17 loss to Georgia last week, but there’s no time to hang its head.

Why Alabama Will Win

Tennessee has yet to deal with an offense with this kind of explosion, including Texas.
Even in the rainy conditions against the Georgia defense, the offense showed its pop on a few scoring drives. This thing moves fast, it takes shots down the field, and if it opens it up, Tennessee might not have the attack to keep up.
On the other side, the Tide have the pass rush going. George MacIntyre in his first game as the starting quarterback against Arkansas – he’s expected to get the call again this week over Faizon Brandon – but he’ll be under far more pressure.

Why Tennessee Will Win

Tennessee knows how to get to the quarterback, too.
The Vols are No. 1 in the nation in sacks, averaging over four per game, and the Alabama offensive line is having a tough time keeping Keelon Russell from getting popped.
Russell and the Tide wait for the downfield plays to develop, but he’ll eat it instead of forcing a throw – Alabama doesn’t turn the ball over enough to matter. Tennessee will do a good job of limiting the big plays.

Alabama vs Tennessee Prediction, Betting Lines

Tennessee won’t be able to keep the Alabama offense down for a full four quarters. It’ll win its share of battles, but like the Texas loss, all it will take is one or two deep shots to open this up.
The Vols will get the ground game going enough to help out MacIntyre, but once this turns into a bit of a track meet – and it only might be for a few drives – Alabama will take over.
