Five-star center Darius Wabbington has committed to Indiana, he told Rivals.

The 6-foot-10 senior out of Sunnyslope High School (AZ) ultimately chose the Hoosiers over Arizona and Illinois. He also received offers from North Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, Texas, and others.

Wabbington, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, is ranked as the No. 13 overall recruit in the 2027 class and the No. 2 ranked center, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, an average of all three major recruiting media companies (Rivals, ESPN, 247Sports).

Darius Wabbington discussed his decision to choose the Hoosiers with Rivals.

“I decided IU was the place for me because of the love that was shown while I was there and the love I got from the entire organization. I have an amazing relationship with every coach on the coaching staff. I talk to all of them pretty consistently.”

In his own words, what type of player is Indiana getting in Wabbington?

“A versatile big who plays for others and does whatever the team needs him to do in order to win.”

He has a message for IU fans.

Wabbington was a part of the USA Basketball U18 National Team, averaging 9.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists en route to winning a silver medal.

During his junior season at Sunnyslope High, he averaged 17.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.

This summer, Wabbington is averaging 13.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting over 38% from three for Compton Magic on the adidas 3SSB Circuit.

Wabbington has a strong frame and what popped for him is the shooting touch. He knocked down multiple spot shots from varying levels of the floor. Overall athleticism will be a question, but he is a strong traffic rebounder when he gets his hands on the ball.
