The 2026 college football season is four weeks in, and the season has featured some huge upsets and great games.

Before Week 1, I gave out Lindy’s Sports Top 25 rankings, and with four games passed, it’s now time to update them. The plan is to update it every month, when there should be plenty of movement.

Lindy’s Sports Official Top 25 Rankings

#1: Texas Longhorns (4-0)

The Texas Longhorns were the No. 1 ranked team in my first rankings, and nothing has changed now. Texas has the best win of the college football season by beating Ohio State. The Longhorns also beat Tennessee on the road, which was a solid win.

Texas’ schedule isn’t easy, so remaining No. 1 will be difficult, but for now, the Longhorns are the team to beat.

#2: Georgia Bulldogs (4-0)

The Georgia Bulldogs are looking dominant and could be on a collision course to play the Longhorns in the SEC Championship. Georgia dominated Oklahoma 41-13, which was a statement win. The Bulldogs haven’t had a truly tough game yet, but that will come.

#3: Miami Hurricanes (4-0)

The top-five to me could be in any order, but I have the Miami Hurricanes coming in at No. 3. Miami is off to a 4-0 start, but they have an easy schedule, as the only tough game is against Notre Dame on Nov. 7.

#4: Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-0)

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish could very well be the best team in college football, but the top-five teams are all elite. Their win over Wisconsin is aging very well.

#5: Indiana Hoosiers (4-0)

The Indiana Hoosiers are the reigning national champions, and there is some thought they deserve the top ranking until they lose. However, this is a new team, and the offense under Josh Hoover isn’t as good as last year’s.

#6: Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0)

The Alabama Crimson Tide look like the real deal once again. Keelon Russell is a star quarterback and has the offense firing.

#7: Ohio State Buckeyes (3-1)

The Ohio State Buckeyes losing to Texas on the road is the reason why they are ranked seventh. Yet, they could very well be the best team in the Big Ten and end the year near the top of the rankings.

#8: Florida Gators (4-0)

The Florida Gators are in Year 1 of Jon Sumrall, and they look like the real deal. Florida dominated Ole Miss on Saturday to remain undefeated and deserve a top-10 ranking.

#9: Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-0)

Texas Tech is undefeated, but the gap in the Big 12 isn’t as big as it was once thought. The Red Raiders’ offense has some question marks, as the quarterback play has been subpar.

#10: BYU Cougars (4-0)

The BYU Cougars are contenders in the Big 12 and once again a playoff contender. Their Oct. 17 game against Notre Dame will be very telling.

#11: Ole Miss Rebels (3-1)

The Ole Miss Rebels went into the swamp and were dominated by the Gators. Ole Miss has the win over LSU, which will help them come playoff selection time.

#12: LSU Tigers (3-1)

The LSU Tigers losing to Ole Miss could be the reason they don’t make the playoffs. Sam Leavitt hasn’t played well, and a quarterback change could be needed soon to revamp this offense.

#13: Utah Utes (4-0)

The Utah Utes are the clear third-best team in the Big 12 behind Texas Tech and BYU. Utah, however, hosts BYU on Nov. 7, which will be massive for who plays in the conference title game.

#14: Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-0)

After just Week 2, I wrote that the Mississippi State Bulldogs were building something special under Kamario Taylor. I thought it was a year early, but Mississippi State may be true playoff contenders this year.

#15: Iowa Hawkeyes (4-0)

The Iowa Hawkeyes went on the road and beat Michigan to cement Iowa as the Big Ten dark horse. The Hawkeyes look like a fringe playoff team.

#16: Oregon Ducks (3-1)

The Oregon Ducks barely beat Boise State in Week 1 and then lost to Oklahoma State in Week 2. Oregon has its hands full if they are going to make the playoffs, especially with Dante Moore injured.

#17: Tennessee Volunteers (3-1)

The Tennessee Volunteers are similar to Mississippi State, where it felt like they were a year early. True freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon is only getting better every week, and they played Texas close.

#18: Oklahoma State Cowboys (3-1)

After the Oklahoma State Cowboys lost to Tulsa in Week 1, I didn’t think they’d ever find their way in the rankings. However, Oklahoma State looks like a different team, which included an upset win over Oregon.

#19: USC Trojans (3-1)

The USC Trojans lost to Oregon, which hurt their playoff chances. Yet, they will still be a tough out in the Big Ten due to that offense.

#20: Houston Cougars (3-1)

The Houston Cougars played Texas Tech tough and could be a factor in the Big 12 by the time conference championships roll around.

#21: SMU Mustangs (3-1)

The SMU Mustangs‘ loss to Louisville hasn’t aged well, so they will need to have some big wins down the stretch to factor into the playoffs.

#22: UCLA Bruins (4-0)

The UCLA Bruins are a major surprise and, at 4-0, deserve to be ranked. UCLA hasn’t had a big game, but that will change in two weeks when they play Oregon.

#23: Duke Blue Devils (4-0)

The Duke Blue Devils are surprisingly 4-0 and could factor into the ACC title game. Duke has some tough games coming against Georgia Tech, UNC, and Virginia, as well as Miami on the road in November.

#24: Kentucky Wildcats (3-1)

The Kentucky Wildcats upset the Texas A&M Aggies and played Alabama tough for a half. Kentucky is a tough out in the SEC.

#25: Wisconsin Badgers (3-1)

The final team ranked is the Wisconsin Badgers, who went on the road to beat Penn State. Wisconsin also played Notre Dame well in the first half, but that loss isn’t a bad one.

Just missing out: Missouri Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Penn State Nittany Lions, Boise State, Virginia Tech.
