The Wisconsin Badgers picked up a statement win over the USC Trojans on Saturday, and on Sunday they secured a major win on the recruiting trail, flipping three-star linebacker Blake Betton from the Penn State Nittany Lions, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.
Betton is from Shakopee, Minnesota, and committed to Penn State back on April 11, picking them over the Badgers and several other schools. They never stopped recruiting him and were able to complete the flip on Sunday after he returned to Madison and attended their win over USC.
He is ranked as the No. 488 overall player and No. 40 linebacker in the Rivals industry ranking. He is also the No. 4 player from Minnesota.
Betton's addition gives Wisconsin 23 commitments in the 2027 recruiting cycle. He is their third linebacker, joining Nathan Jones and Keaton Wollan, who are also three-star prospects.
Rivals now ranks Wisconsin's recruiting class as the 26th best in the country and the 9th best in the Big Ten. The group has a chance to be Luke Fickell's best recruiting class since taking over the Badgers; they signed the No. 22 recruiting class in 2024.
