Indiana football, in spite of some shaky performances in recent games, is still set up pretty decently in ESPN’s College Football Power Index.
Coming off of a win over Michigan, the Hoosiers sit at No. 6 in the power index, a drop of one spot from last week. Indiana is behind Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Notre Dame and Ohio State and ahead of teams like Texas, LSU, Ole Miss and Oregon, among others.
The model gives Indiana a projected win-loss of 10.9-1.7, respectively, and gives the Hoosiers a 35.2% chance of winning out. The highest ranked FPI opponent on Indiana’s schedule is USC, which plummeted eight spots down to No. 25 after a blowout loss to No. 36 Wisconsin.
Indiana’s strength of record sits at fifth nationally while its strength of schedule sits at 25th. The model gives Indiana a 32% chance of winning the Big Ten, an 89.2% of making the College Football Playoff, a 21% chance of making the National Championship Game and a 9.9% chance of winning it.
Indiana has to get through Minnesota before all of that, with ESPN’s analytics giving the Hoosiers a 96% chance of victory against the Golden Gophers.
