Texas A&M's 2026-2027 college basketball season is just a few weeks away, with the Aggies hosting Alabama State on Tuesday, November 3, as they look to get off to a hot start in non-conference play. Entering his second season at the helm, coach Bucky McMillan led the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament in Year 1 and is looking to build on last season's success.

This week, the first Preseason SEC Media Poll revealed that experts believe Texas A&M will finish 9th in the conference, which isn't surprising given the level of talent and experience nearly all sixteen teams bring to the table, while the Aggies' revamped roster now features seven transfer portal additions, led by former Kansas State guard PJ Haggerty.

On Sunday, the first set of KenPom rankings were released, placing Texas A&M 19th overall, which is a sign that Bucky McMillan has earned national respect, while his new roster, featuring a much deeper guard rotation, size in the frontcourt, and NBA-level talent in the starting rotation, should have the Aggies in a spot to compete with the upper echelon of SEC programs.

Per KenPom rankings and TexAgs A&M basketball expert Luke Evangelist, just 25% of Texas A&M's 32 regular-season games are against top-20-ranked teams, while 17 (50%) are against top-50-ranked teams.
