Joey McGuire and the No. 8 Texas Tech Red Raiders had a brutal day as they suffered a 37-24 upset loss to the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday afternoon.

Going into the game, Texas Tech performed well as one of the best teams in the country. They rose up to No. 8 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, excelling as an elite squad from the Big 12.

However, perfect starts don’t tend to last for long. Their 6-0 record became no more as they suffered defensive breakdowns against a Cincinnati squad that was 4-2 prior to the contest. The errors were significant that they gave up the most points in a game since the 2024 season, per reporter Dennis Dodd.
