Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers successfully avenged back-to-back losses to the Texas A&M Aggies with a dominant victory in Baton Rouge on Saturday. The Week 4 showdown turned into a lopsided game, with the Aggies falling 35-6 to a strong LSU team.
After the loss, the Aggies dropped to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Poor offensive play-calling, defensive struggles, and quarterback Marcel Reed’s inability to make plays behind a fragile O-line eventually contributed to the blowout defeat in Week 4.
In the aftermath, Texas A&M legend Johnny Manziel delivered a big reality check to head coach Mike Elko and his team.

Experts and fans alike were baffled by how Reed and the Aggies’ offense struggled against the LSU defense throughout the game. The Tigers’ defense racked up four sacks and seven tackles for loss.
The constant pressure forced Reed into one of the worst games of his career. He completed just 10 of 26 passes for a 38.5% completion rate and threw a costly fourth-quarter interception.
Reed was bottled up in the pocket and could not make meaningful contributions with his legs. Manziel, who appeared disappointed by the team’s overall performance, penned a furious message on X.
“Better do some soul searching, or you’re going to be the [expletive] of the SEC this year, boys,” he wrote.
This year’s team looked much different from the previous one, with neither the offense nor defense stepping up to the occasion. While the Aggies’ defense kept the game within reach in the first half, trailing 14-3, it was completely outclassed in the second half. The LSU offense managed to rack up 506 total yards and averaged 7.7 yards per play.

Coach Elko looked equally disappointed during the postgame press conference and admitted the team failed to capitalize when it mattered most.
“I don’t have many words. We have to find a way to play better football. We’re not playing good football. That’s the understatement of a lifetime. I don’t have answers at this time, but we have to find them,” he said in light of the blowout loss.
The Aggies were ranked No. 16 in the PFN Power Rankings heading into this encounter. With that defeat, PFN’s Playoff Meter notes that the Aggies’ chances of making the 12-team College Football Playoff took a massive hit of 60.9%. They now have just a 4.4% chance of squeaking in.
