Pittsburgh Steelers 2027 NFL Draft Drew Mestemaker

The Pittsburgh Steelers sent the house to scout top 2027 NFL Draft quarterback prospect Drew Mestemaker, sending three representatives to Morgantown, West Virginia for the Oklahoma State passer’s night game against the Mountaineers.

Steelers assistant general manager Andy Weidl and two scouts were in attendance for the Big 12 opener for both teams, according to the seating chart posted in the Mountaineer Field press box.

It’s the second time the Steelers have scouted Mestemaker this season. They also had a scout in attendance for The Cowboys’ Week 1 loss to Tulsa. In Week 2, Mestemaker and Oklahoma State out-dueled top quarterback prospect Dante Moore and Oregon for an exciting win in Week 2.

Mestemaker, 20, has turned from a zero-star high school prospect to one of the top talents headed for the 2027 NFL Draft.

Mestemaker walked on to North Texas in 2024, starting out as the team’s fifth-string quarterback, but climbing the ladder to backup before the opening game. He made his collegiate debut in Week 3, and by his second season, he was a starter for the Mean Green.

Last season, he led FBS with 4,379 yards and had 34 touchdowns compared to nine interceptions while leading North Texas to a 12-2 record. Mestemaker transferred to Oklahoma State ahead of the 2026 season.

He’s currently the fifth-ranked quarterback prospect in the 2027 NFL Draft class, behind Texas’ Arch Manning, Moore, Miami’s Darian Mensah, Notre Dame’s CJ Carr and Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss.
